The Art and Where to Find It

The Beach at Tourgville-les-Sablons

Artist: Eugne Boudin

Year: 1893

Location: Morpeth Street. The original is in the collection of The National Gallery, London.

An oil on canvas by one of the first French landscape painters to paint outdoors. It shows the coastline between Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer at the mouth of the river Touques. The two jetties which form the entrance to the harbour can be seen in the central middle-distance. Boudin painted the jetties from a different angle in another piece called The Entrance to Trouville Harbour. Eugne Boudin, The Beach at Tourgville-les-Sablons Copyright The National Gallery, London.
